What are ASTM Standards for medical masks?

ASTM refers to the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM). The current standards for a medical mask ASTM F2100-19 specifies the following performance requirements:

Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE): The Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) determines the filtration efficiency of the mask in filtering bacteria.

Differential Pressure (Delta P): Differential Pressure measures the air flow resistance of the mask, in other words, a measure of breathability.

Flammability Test: The Flammability test evaluates the flammability of the medical textiles and determines the time of flame spread for the given material.

Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE): The Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE) evaluates the filtration efficiency of the mask in filtering sub-micron particles (similar to filtration of viruses).

Synthetic Blood Penetration (SBP): The Synthetic Blood Penetration (SBP) determines the ability to act as a barrier to blood-borne pathogens.
